The Premier Line
Welcome to the home page of the LNWR Society which was formed in 1973. We aim to collect and disseminate information about the London and North Western Railway, its constituents and its successors. We are interested in the infrastructure of the railway, the men and women who made it work, as well as the engines and rolling stock which it built and used. We aim to help modellers, preservationists, historians and those with just a passing interest in the LNWR.
Since becoming an educational charity in 2005, our services are provided both for members and for non-members, so please take the time to roam around, use the links at the top of the page and to the left of this page to navigate around our site.
The London & North Western Railway Company evolved over many years. The same applies to the LNWR Society and to this web site. We intend this to be a ‘living’ site and hope you will visit us again to see what has changed.
For the society's latest News please visit the News section of the society's on-line Forum. See also Site News at the bottom of the menu on the left.
Looking for genealogical information about your Railway ancestors? Maybe you want to find out how they lived, how much they got paid. This is the place to look.
The LNWR collected the names of those Railwaymen who fell in the First World War, with those who were decorated for their actions.
