RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE OF
STATION MASTERS, GOODS AGENTS, YARD MASTERS, &c.
The following are additions and amendments to the
Memorandum of Agreement dated March 1st, 1920, respecting the
above Grades.
1. – Sunday Duty, Additional Work,
Emergency Calls, Night Duty, and being within call outside hours of
Regular Duty.
The commuted or aggregation allowance set out in Clause 7
of the Agreement should be applied on the following basis:
(a) Additional Work, Emergency Calls, Night Duty,
and being within call outside hours of Regular Duty.
An allowance of 5 per cent. of Salary and Bonus
(if any) to be applied to all Station Masters and Yard Masters employed at
Stations, except those on lines which are open for not more than eight
hours daily.
(B) Sunday Duty.
An allowance of 15 per cent. of Salary and
Bonus (if any) should be applied in all cases where men are required
to be in attendance at their posts of duty on alternate Sundays for more
than four hours, whether this necessitates one or more turns of duty.
In cases where the Sunday duty does not amount
to alternate Sundays, or when the actual alternate Sunday duty is less
than four hours, an allowance of either 12½ , 10, or 5 per cent. of
Salary and Bonus (if any) should be granted according to the amount of
regular Sunday duty the man is required to perform.
These allowances to cover any work performed
on Christmas Day and Good Friday in England and Wales, and January
1st and 2nd in Scotland.
In cases where a Station Master performs no actual
Sunday duty, and therefore receives no Commuted Allowance for Sunday
duty, but is required to be “on call” on Sundays, he should be
granted an additional 2½ per cent. to the 5 per cent. Commuted
Allowance for being “on call” during the week.
In cases where Station Masters receive a Commuted
Allowance for Sunday duty, in addition to the 5 per cent. “on
call” allowance, no further allowance should be made for
being “within call” on Sundays.
