RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE OF
RAILWAY MALE CLERICAL STAFF.
The following are additions and amendments to the
Memorandum of Agreement dated March 1st, 1920, respecting the above :—
1.—Payment of Overtime and Sunday
Duty to men in receipt of Salary and Bonus exceeding £350 per annum.
Whilst it is recognised that overtime payment generally
will not be made to Clerks in receipt of Salary and Floating Bonus exceeding
£350 per annum, it is felt that in certain cases the Companies
will desire to make recompense for such overtime, and when this is so, the
maximum rate of 3s. 6d. per hour should apply.
With regard to Sunday Duty, the rate of 4s. per hour
should apply in all cases where it is decided to make payment.
2.—Payment of arrears to Clerks
who left the Service or died between August 1st, 1919, and March 1st, 1920.
Upon application, any arrears such men would have been
entitled to had the new conditions been in operation at the time their
services terminated, should be paid to them or their dependents.
3.—Classification of Clerks
working abroad, but employed by English Companies.
All Clerks employed abroad by English Companies come
within the conditions contained in the Memorandum of Agreement dated
March 1st, 1920.
4.—New Entrants into the Railway
Service prior to October 1st, 1920.
Junior Clerks and Clerks (New Entrants) appointed to
positions in Class 5 should be paid according to the scale shown in
Clause 1 of the Agreement, and receive a War Bonus on the basis set
out in Clause 2 thereof.
