(2) A man appointed to his present position, say, on
June, 1st, 1917, will on August 1st, 1919, be in his third year in that position,
and will go to the third year rate of the class in which his position is
classified, viz.:–

(3) A man who on August 1st, 1919, has not held his
present position for two years, will go to the minimum rate for the class
in which his position is classified, and be raised to the next rate in the
scale on completing two years in the position.
For example :—
A man appointed to his position
on June 1st, 1918, who, on classification, is placed in Class IV., will
receive his increases as under:—
Aug. 1st, 1919, £210 per annum, 81s. 0d. per week.
June 1st, 1920, £220 per annum, 84s. 6d. per week.
June 1st, 1922, £230 per annum, 88s. 6d. per week.
(4) A man whose position is classified in Class V. and who
has not held his present position for one year will go to the minimum rate for
that class, viz., £170 per annum (salary equivalent rate, 65s. 6d.
per week), and will be raised to the next rate in the scale on completing one
year in the position.
(5) A man who, previous to his occupying the position
in respect of which he is classified on 1st August, 1919, or at any subsequent
date, occupied a position which is now classified in the same class, shall be
given credit for his period of service in that position and go to the
appropriate rate in his class.
