The above salaries or equivalent rates to be increased by £10 per annum, or 4s. per week, to all Supervisory Staff who work at Depots and Stations in London. For this purpose London shall be considered as embracing all Depots and Stations within a radius of 10 miles from Charing Cross.

Any special London allowance now made to Supervisory Staff in the Classes 5 to 1, employed at a Depot or Station outside this limit, will be continued to the present recipients so long as they are employed at that Depot or Station, but the allowance will not be granted to future holders of the same positions.

In introducing the scales, men to go to their scale rate according to the time they have been employed in a particular class or position. (For examples see Appendix “B.”)

Men will be eligible for promotion to the higher classes as vacancies occur, subject to merit and satisfactory conduct. Upon promotion to a higher class, they will be advanced to the minimum rate of that class.

“Special” Class positions at salaries over £350 per annum or equivalent rates are also open as vacancies occur to men who qualify for such positions.

These salaries or equivalent rates to be inclusive, and all present allowances which are distinct from or additional to, the salary or equivalent rate (uniform excepted), to be abolished, except as otherwise provided.

Where men are required to live in a house or Station apartments provided by the Company, rent, including rates and taxes, to be charged according to the local value of the house or apartments, but in no case shall the deduction exceed 15 per cent. of the man’s salary, or equivalent rate.

NOTE. —It will be for each Company to decide whether the men shall be on a salary or equivalent rate basis.

The adoption of these proposals shall be without prejudice to the question of admission to or exclusion from the Superannuation Funds of the respective Companies.

2.— War Bonus.

Men of the above grades will be entitled to a War Bonus of £60 per annum plus 20 per cent. of new salary or equivalent rate, and such War Bonus will in each case be either absorbed or reduced by an amount corresponding to the increase in salary or equivalent rate granted upon introduction of the new scales. (For examples see Appendix “C.”)

In cases where men of the Supervisory Grades have been granted a house free of charge, free firing, lighting, &c., or a sum in lieu thereof, the value of these concessions to be assessed in each case→
