(3) A man who on August 1st, 1919, has not held his present position. for two years, will go to the minimum rate for the class in which his position is classified, and be raised to the next rate in the scale on completing two years in the position.

For example :—

    A man appointed to his position on June 1st, 1918, who, on classification, is placed in Class IV., will receive his increases as under:—
    August 1st, 1919, to £210 per annum.
    June 1st, 1920,     ”  £220    ”
    June 1st, 1922,     ”  £230    ”

(4) A man who, previous to his occupying the position in respect of which he is classified on 1st August, 1919, or at any subsequent date, occupied a position which is now classified in the same class, shall be given credit for his period of service in that position and go to the appropriate rate in his class.

Example:—

     Present position classified–Class III.
Period of occupancy of position–9 months.
Previous position, also now classified–Class III.
Period of occupancy–3 years and 3 months.
Total period in positions classified III.–4 years.
   Salary–Maximum of Class III.–£260.
