→ ten nights. Where it is not possible to release a Clerk under this arrangement one day’s pay at ordinary rate to be given in lieu thereof.

Where Clerks engaged continuously on night duty have not been relieved in accordance with this clause, during the period since August 1st, 1919, they are to be paid one day’s pay for every ten nights they have worked and not been relieved.

All special payments for night duty are to be abolished except in the case of present recipients of night duty allowance, who will continue to receive the allowance whilst employed on night duty.

The rostered weekly hours of Clerks employed on continuous night duty not to exceed the rostered weekly hours of the majority of the Clerks on day duty at the same station or depot.

A short turn of duty rostered for one night of the week will not debar a man from the privileges attaching to continuous night duty.

7. – Overtime.

Overtime payment will only be allowed for overtime work when specially sanctioned by Headquarters, or in such way as may be decided by the individual Company. Where overtime is so sanctioned the rates of pay will be as under: –

Time worked in excess of the rostered hours, whatever they may be, will be paid for at overtime rate, with the exception that a Clerk shall be expected to stay occasionally, as necessary, up to half an hour beyond his ordinary day’s rostered hours without payment.

All overtime worked since August 1st, 1919, and not paid for, to be paid at above rates, based upon the new salary to which the Clerk is entitled under the re-classification.
