→ of £60 per annum plus 20 per cent. of the new
salary, and such War Bonus will be either absorbed or reduced by an amount
corresponding to the increase in salary granted under the new scales. For
examples see Appendix “C.”
3. – Residue Of War Bonus Remaining after Application
of the New Scales.
For every advance in salary subsequent to the introduction
of the new scales to Clerks in Fifth Class and above, 50 per cent. of such
advance shall be deducted from the remaining War Bonus, independent of the
fall in the cost of living.
In addition to this, the floating bonus to be subject to
fluctuation in accordance with the cost of living as shown in the tables
prepared by the Ministry of Labour. Taking the present cost of living at
125 per cent. above normal, a rise or fall of a full five points to carry
an increase or a decrease, as the case may be, of £5 per annum floating,
bonus. Provided, however, that no reduction in any man’s floating War Bonus
shall take place as the result of a fall in the cost. of living before
September 30th, 1920, after which date any necessary adjustment will be
made.
The War Bonus adjustments, according to the cost of living,
to take place at the end of March, June, September, and December, and to be
based on the figures published in the months named by the Ministry of Labour.
4. – New Entrants.
All new entrants into the Railway Service on and after
October 1st, 1920, to be subject to the revised scales for Juniors or Clerks
in the Fifth Class, and receive no War Bonus allowance. After this date, every
rise of five full points above 125 per cent. of pre-war cost of living to carry
with it all increase of £5 per annum, as War Bonus, such increase to be
reduced at the rate of £5 for every subsequent fall of five full points
in cost of living.
5. – Hours of Duty.
The ordinary rostered working hours of duty shall not exceed
48 hours per week, it being understood that in any office where the working
hours as at August 1st, 1919, were less than 48 per week, they shall not be
increased.
6. – Night Duty.
Where Clerks are continuously engaged on Night
Duty, i.e., commencing before 4.0 a.m. or ceasing after 10.0 p.m., they
will be relieved, where possible, one turn of duty every →
