The above salaries to be increased by £10 to all Clerks
who work at Depots and Stations in London. For this purpose London shall be
considered as embracing all Depots and Stations within a radius of 10
miles from Charing Cross. (For examples see Appendix “C.”)
Any special London allowance now made to Clerks in the Junior
Class and Classes 5 to 1, employed at a Depot or Station outside this limit,
will be continued to the present recipients so long as they are employed at
that Depot or Station, but the allowance will not be granted to future holders
of the same positions.
In introducing the scales, men in the Classes 1, 2, 3, and 4,
to go to their scale rate according to the time they have been employed in a
particular class or position.
For examples see Appendix “A.”
Clerks will be eligible for promotion to the higher classes
as vacancies occur, subject to merit and satisfactory conduct. Upon promotion
to a higher class, Clerks will be advanced to the minimum rate of that class.
