LNWR and its people

Normal Lee

Many authors have described the LNWR, its routes, stations, engines, its beautiful carriages and its wagons. These have been photographed profusely and fortunately several thousand have survived, often with details of what they were. Rather less is known about the people who ran the railway. Some of the directors and the very senior officers are familiar, particularly if they were closely connected with locomotives, but memories of the other people who made the LNWR work have faded perhaps beyond recollection.
