‘Military Mary’ Class 2-8-0

A ‘Military Mary’ approaches Crewe from the south, in 1920, its long train snaking across the lines. At the head of the train are two D.88 box vans but mostly it consists of coal or open wagons. Note the signal gantry with its impressive array of signals — but think how difficult it was to pick out the right one. Not an easy task!
