Beames 0-8-4T  No.7947 waits on shed  in LMS days, out of steam but fully coaled up. The LNW had been reluctant to fit smoke box  number plates but 7947 has one here. Look how thick the wooden pads are on which the buffers  were mounted — simply to make them longer.
