No.1432 is a ‘B’ class 4-cylinder compound
0-8-0. The ‘piano’ front covers over the
valve rods are very prominent in this design. The
slide bars are clearly seen
above the piston rod , as are the drain cocks
and operating rods below the cylinder . The flush
leading crank pin was necessary to provide
clearance as it passed behind the slide bars. The twin vertical bars
mounting the brake blocks can be seen in front of
each wheel.
