No.3524 is a Dock or ‘Bissell Tank’ , so called
after the design of rear truck carrying the trailing wheels.
The square saddle-tank is almost a ‘pannier tank’
but the LNW never deigned to use that designation. The crew of the
‘Special tank’ based saddle tank behind look on curiously at the
photographer, probably amazed at anyone bothering to waste a
photograph on a dirty, lowly shunting tank, for beauty was never the
Bissell Tank’s strong point.
