A 17" 'Coal Engine' , believed to be no.45, with a train carrying Blackburn Corporation tram cars, shortly after 1900. They are part of a batch numbered 36-75, built by G.F. Milnes of Birkenhead, and are open-topped double-deck cars with enclosed vestibules. In April 1902 Milnes moved its works to Hadley, Shropshire, so we are uncertain if the location is Hadley or Birkenhead.
However Mr. D.M. Tolson advises that G.F. Milnes & Co. built all the trams numbered 36-75 at the new works at Hadley, Shropshire. The first batch, nos. 36-55 were delivered by rail to Blythe's sidings near Church in August 1900 and nos. 56-75 were delivered in January 1901.
The wagons are LNWR tramcar trolleys to Diagram D.70 or D.71.
