No.260 is a clerestory Explain 'Clerestory Roof' 12-wheel diner, in the photograph the kitchen at the right-hand end Explain 'End Kitchen Carriage' (Some LNWR and WCJS Explain 'WCJS – West Coast Joint Stock' kitchen diners had the kitchen in the centre Explain 'Centre Kitchen Carriage'). The entrance is via wider entrance vestibules than those on the diners shown approaching the Britannia bridge, but the external doors are still recessed in the side of the carriage – the regular practice with LNWR and WCJS diners. The doors at the right are open. Ten of these diners were built in 1901 as second/third composites Explain 'Composite'; they became thirds when second class Explain 'Second Class' was abandoned.
