Women at work folding and ironing in the Laundry. The flat-heeled “sensible” shoes worn by Cynthia Clark as she wields her electric iron must be wise for work on your feet. The lady standing looking at us while folding is Evan Stanton, behind her May Willison is seated, just left of centre. Muriel Barber and Ivy Jolley stand at back left. The only man, looking like a gangster, is in fact the foreman Explain 'Foreman', Tom Rockingham. The lockers at the back appear to be for hanging the sheets.
