Built by the London & Birmingham Railway Explain 'London & Birmingham Railway (LBR)' in 1842, No.2 reflects the design standards of the time. It has two stagecoach-like compartments and a coupe compartment at one end. Long padded buffers Explain 'Buffer' of an early pattern are fitted but there are no brakes. The extra side chains and hooks at either end hooked onto the next coach for safety — couplings sometimes broke in early days. This wonderful vehicle, a delight from its time, spent over a hundred years stored safely away in Wolverton Works Explain 'Wolverton'.
