A whole carriage — for one family Explain 'Family Saloon'. The large families of Victorian days could fill this saloon with its twelve first and six third class seats (for the servants, of course), but family saloons had become extinct by the 1940’s. Seen in LMS days No.909 was a 45ft cove roof Explain 'Cove-roof coach' corridor coach Explain 'Corridor Coach' built 1894. Curiously the corridor connection at the far end opened straight into the luggage compartmentl – they were built non-gangwayed and all were altered by 1899 to have gangways to allow access where appropriate to the dining saloon. Lighting is still by gas, and panelling is “American Special” Explain 'American Special (1)' style.
