Unusually for the LNWR, which generally preferred kitchen-diners, three of these kitchen cars were built to diagram 45 in 1907-08 for use with the “American Special” trains between Euston and Liverpool Riverside. They were 50 feet long and ran on four wheel bogies Explain 'Bogie', like the full brakes built for these trains; other vehicles built for the American Specials Explain 'American Special (1)' were 65ft long and ran on 6 wheel bogies. Matching styles of panelling were used on all vehicles.

The photo was taken at Wolverton, south of the Works on the west side, looking west.
