Before World War I the LNWR built this elliptical-roof Explain 'Elliptical-roof Coach' ‘top light’ Explain 'Top Light' design observation car Explain 'Observation Saloon' for the highly scenic Llandudno — Betws-yCoed — Blaenau Festiniog branch in North Wales. The saloon seats are reversible, and electric lighting is evidenced by the battery boxes hanging below the underframe Explain 'Underframe'. The sectors of the wooden Mansell wheels Explain 'Mansell wheel' can be seen at the left. Happily, this coach is preserved and can be seen on the Bluebell Railway in Sussex.
