The interior of a 42ft twin dining saloon. Dating from 1890, these saloons for the London — Manchester service were almost as ornate as Royal stock Explain 'Royal Train'. Only one seat per side; superbly patterned head-rest cloths; highly decorated lincrusta Explain 'Lincrusta' ceiling; and elegant gas lights hanging below the clerestory Explain 'Clerestory Roof'. The luggage racks, minute by today’s standards, were only for brollies and parasols — other luggage went in the luggage compartment. The curiously-shaped hangers beside the racks are for the top hats beloved of the Victorians!
