People and officials surround a railmotor Explain 'Rail Motor' at the opening of the branch on 28th August 1905. The branch ran inland from Foryd Junction (between Rhyl and Prestatyn on the North Wales coast). Six railcars were built in 1905-6 and another in 1910. The coach was built at Wolverton to C.A. Park’s design, the engine being supplied by Crewe.

The driver peers out of his window at the opposite end to the engine where he would use the control gear provided so that the railmotor could be driven from that end, as well as from the engine.
