Please be aware that material you submit will be edited for content and length. As you can see below, I'm happy to accept material in almost any format; if you can use a prefered format, that makes my job easier.
| Written notes |
Not preferred. But do not let that stop you submitting material. Please make sure that your writing is legible (and not just by you!). |
| Typed notes |
Acceptable, but not dot-matrix printer, or poor typewriter, as these will not scan so well. |
Documents on disk |
Preferred! (floppy, CD or zip; IBM format please). |
| Emails |
Preferred! (but no large attachments (>500 Kb) without prior warning, please). |
| Colour photos |
No problem – but will be reproduced in Black and White. |
| B/W photos |
No problem. |
| Digital photos |
The main problem here is that what looks acceptable on the screen, will often not be acceptable when printed.
Images need to be at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) and with little or no compression.
TIFF is the prefered format, although JPG is acceptable.
A good guideline is the file should be at least 1,000 Kb in size.
Files below 500 Kb in size are of little use. |
| Xeroxed photos |
Usually unusable. |
| Newspaper pictures |
Usually unusable. |
If you send material such as photos please mention if you don’t need the items returned. Photos, magazines, disks, etc. all get sent back eventually.
